This week was by FAR my most exhausting week!
I don't know if it is because it's been 4 weeks there or if it was because I had an EXTREMELY busy schedule!
monday I hiked to lake mary
wednesday I went on the overnighter hike (group of 59)
and thursday morning at 2 am I did the sunrise hike
the overnighter was the most eventful.
we got there and we were having a great time. everyone unfolded their tarp backpacks and we started playing games. then me and granola looked up and saw a giant dark cloud. we spent a few minutes trying to decide which direction it was going. praying inside that it wasn't coming towards us. about 10 minutes later it started to rain. we told the girls to start getting their stuff together-then the thunder began. we told the girls to grab what they had in their hands and throw the rest under the tree and head out. we rushed out and down the gated road. about half way down it cleared up somewhat but everything was already soaking wet and, as one camper mentioned, maybe that happened because something worse was going to happen later. we got the girls back to camp and me, granola, dynamite, star, and gloria started thinking of a plan of how to get the rest of their stuff before nightfall. the gate at the bottom of the road was locked. Dynamite got the code from her family that has a cabin there but we couldn't get the lock undone. we started searching for someone home at their cabin but it was desolate. then we saw a car coming below the gate. we waved them down. ZIMMY! the wonderful woman who is taking over as president next year. by a miracle she was driving to HER cabin. she unlocked the gate (using brownie dust) and we were able to drive the car up to pick up the gear. that night I felt my heavenly father's love for me stronger than ever. he protected us. he inspired us. and he blessed us. I'm so grateful for the power of the prayer, and for my Heavenly Father's love for me and for this wonderful camp.
that was the highlight of my week. and now i'm EXHAUSTED. but it's now time for WEEK 4 :)
